"Weed Eater slaps" - Kyle's cousin, Steven

"“What sound does the sun make when the light hits the floor?” asked a client with deafness.
This question initially inspired House Plants to write “Weed Eater,” the debut release off their forthcoming album. Layering in subtle guitar and growing to a cymbal crescendo, the intro suctions the listener into a world reminiscent of synesthesia, hearing sights and seeing sounds. We tend to think of those with “disabilities” as lacking, forgetting that “abled” people are just as deaf to alternate ways of sensing. With sensitivity, House Plants paints a feeling of alienation from an inverted perspective as the chorus flares, “Now my eyes, they hear no sound...”
The sonic garden created is both empty and evocative, wispy and grounded as gentle vocals guide us over the heavier rock instrumentation building throughout the track. Kyle’s lyrics have endearing simplicity, like he’s actually asking questions without pretension, inviting you to leave preconceived notions behind and return to a state of innocence cradled in dark and beautiful musical textures. As the song reaches its apex with repeated chorus lines and swirling guitar, it suddenly halts, and reverberates like a ringing in your ears." - Lara Hoffman

"Very nice. We liked it." - Kyle's parents

lyrics

What sound does the sun make when the light hits the floor?
And what smell do the stars have when they ignite in the sky?

Now my eyes, they see no sound
Now my ears, they hear no sight

Is this world becoming a thought that seems so stale?
I think I've lost the stability in admitting I'm afraid

Now my eyes, they see no sound
No sound
Now my ears, they hear no sight
No sight
No sight
No sight
